Ceramic Lighting Series 2024

These are directly referencing the mesmerizing reflective orbs found in many of the Barragán projects we had the privilege of viewing during our honeymoon in Mexico City last August. I like that these chrome-dipped bulbs always remind you that you have a body in space and simultaneously reveal or highlight the other light sources in that space, I find these reminders to be grounding.

The ceramics themselves are a slightly odd accumulation of pieces. All were failures in one way or another, one had some minor hairline cracking that prevented it from being sold as a traditional vase, another was a closed form that literally ruptured its own opening. Reimagining them as vessels of light allowed those failures to become assets and opportunities.
